GUWAHATI: Nearly four days after the cold-blooded murder of the Guwahati based dairy distributor Ranjit Bora, the City Police has announced a cash reward of Rs. 2 Lakh for any information on the incident.

62-year-old Bora who was the distributor of Purabi Dairy was shot dead in front of the ICICI Bank in the city's Panjabari area on Monday when he was there to deposit cash worth approximately Rs. 2 lakh. He was inside his parked Maruti Suzuki WagonR car just outside the bank, when he was shot by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle.

As per the CCTV footage, the miscreants fled the scene with the money towards Panjabari side but were wearing black helmets for which they could not be identified.

Immediately after the incident, Bora was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors at around 12.44 PM.

Late Bora was the distributor of Purabi Dairy, the brand name of milk products manufactured by West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd (WAMUL) and was involved in the business for the last twelve years. He was a resident of Kahilipara area in the city.

The Guwahati Police in a Twitter post shared on Wednesday said that Rs. 2 Lakh will be rewarded for any information on the murderers of Late Ranjit Bora.

The tweet read, "Guwahati Police announces a Rs. 2 lakh reward for information that can lead to the arrest of the murderers of Ranjit Bora, who was shot dead on November 21 at Panjabari."

It added, "Information can be shared on WhatsApp 6026901247 The informant's identify will be kept secret."

After the murder was reported, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Harmeet Singh said that they have leads on the suspects and will be nabbed soon. However, no arrests on the case were made till Thursday.

Earlier, two youths were detained for interrogation by Dispur Police from Panjabari area.
