GOLAGHAT: The District Commissioner of Golaghat today announced the details for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the district of Golaghat.
In Golaghat district, there are a total of 1164 polling stations, 8 anchalik panchayats, 20 zila parishad seats, and 108 gaon panchayat ward members seat. Elections will be held for these seats. The total number of voters in Golaghat district is 788441, with 392783 male voters and 395646 female voters. To contest the elections, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria, including a minimum educational qualification of passing the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. Additionally, candidates must not have more than two children and must not have any pending criminal cases against them.
The nomination papers for the elections can be obtained from the office of the District Election Officer, Golaghat. The last date for filing nominations is April 11. The elections will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held on May 2 and the second phase will be held on May 7. Golaghat district will go to polls in the first phase. The expenditure limit for candidates has been fixed at Rs 25,000 for gaon panchayat members, Rs 2,50,000 for regional panchayat members, and Rs 10,00,000 for district council members. The security deposit for candidates has been fixed at Rs 200 for general category candidates contesting gaon panchayat elections, Rs 100 for reserved category candidates contesting gaon panchayat elections, Rs 500 for general category candidates contesting anchalik panchayat elections, Rs 250 for reserved category candidates contesting anchalik panchayat elections, Rs 1,000 for general category candidates contesting zila parishad elections, and Rs 500 for reserved category candidates contesting zila parishad elections. The district administration has appealed to all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election.
