
GUWAHATI: The Assam State Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Panchayat Elections in the state's 27 districts.
Candidates will have up to April 11, 2025, to submit their nominations, and the nomination papers will be scrutinized the next day. On April 12, the validly nominated candidates' list will be published, and nominations will be withdrawable until April 17, 2025. The final list of contesting candidates will be made public later that day.
Voting is set to occur in two phases. The first phase will be held on May 2, 2025, while the second phase is scheduled for May 7, 2025. Both polling dates will have voting between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. In case of a re-poll, it will be held on May 4, 2025, for the first phase and May 9, 2025, for the second phase. Counting of votes will take place on May 11, 2025, from 8:00 AM onwards.
The number of eligible voters in this election is estimated at 1,80,36,682, a 13.27% rise from the 2018 Panchayat elections, which saw 1,56,41,456 voters. The voter base consists of 9,071,264 males, 8,965,010 females, and 408 others.
