GUWAHATI: A schoolgirl from Nicholes Higher Secondary School, who was kidnapped from the Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati, has been safely rescued by the police. Her family and local people are very relieved. She was reportedly tricked by a group of youths and then taken away by force.
Sources say that one of the kidnappers persuaded the girl to leave her home in Manipuri Basti. She was then reportedly drugged and taken away. The kidnappers transported her to Borpathar in Assam's Golaghat district. After a thorough search, the Paltan Bazar Police found her location and rescued her safely.
During the operation, police apprehended one of the kidnappers, while three others managed to escape. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was acquainted with the suspects, adding to concerns about the nature of the crime.
Authorities are working hard to find the remaining suspects and take legal action against them. Meanwhile, the police have asked parents and guardians to be careful, especially about their children's online and in-person interactions.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Lakhimpur police had rescued a five-year-old girl from the Boginadi area. The girl had been allegedly abducted by the family's domestic help from the Beltola Bazar area in Guwahati on November 9. The police had also arrested Sumi Gogoi, the domestic help.
