Assam: Security reviewed ahead of ABSU’s 57th annual conference

KOKRAJHAR: Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh visited Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma in Kokrajhar on Sunday to inspect the venue and review security arrangements for the upcoming 57th annual conference of the All- Bodo Students Union (ABSU), which will be held from March 13 to 16.

During the visit, DGP Singh conducted a security review of the event site, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend as the chief guest at the open session on March 16. The Union Home Minister will address a gathering of over two lakh people during the session. Additionally, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will attend a special program titled ‘Empowering Youth for a Vibrant Bodoland Region and a Viksit Bharat,’ where he will interact with students from the Bodoland region on March 14. To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, DGP Singh held a security review meeting with the organizing committee, ABSU leaders, district administration, and police officials.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing at Bodofa Fwthar, with large-scale arrangements underway. The venue is being equipped to accommodate around two lakh people, and construction of the event pandal is progressing rapidly.

Speaking to the media, ABSU President Dipen Boro stated that the organization was fully prepared for the smooth conduct of the session. He added that key topics like education and the full implementation of the BTR Peace Agreement will be discussed during the delegate session.
