SILCHAR: The Assam Urban Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Barak Valley Division, has announced that the contractor M/s VPRPL is set to commence the trial run for Zone-11 under the Silchar Water Supply Project (AMRUT) on May 9, 2025. This crucial step marks a significant stride towards the augmentation and streamlining of the urban water supply system in the region.
Zone-11 covers key areas including N.H Roads, Hailakandi Road, Vivekananda Road, Chengkoori Road, Dascolony Area, R.K. Mission Road, and Shiv Colony. The trial run is aimed at testing the operational efficiency and hydraulic integrity of the newly installed infrastructure to ensure consistent and quality water delivery to these zones.
During the course of the trial run, there may be instances of water discharge from certain points as part of the pressure and distribution assessments. All concerned ‘Before Stations’ will remain on high alert throughout the exercise to monitor and respond promptly to any operational contingencies. This precautionary measure is essential for ensuring a smooth and safe execution of the trial.
The board seeks cooperation from all relevant stakeholders to facilitate the successful completion of this critical milestone. The commitment to providing reliable and uninterrupted water supply remains at the core of the Silchar Water Supply Project, and the upcoming trial is a pivotal move towards realizing this vision, stated a press release.
