SIVASAGAR: Pritirekha Baruah, a resident of Phukan Nagar in Sivasagar, passed away at a hospital in Dibrugarh on August 18 due to old age-related ailments. She was a well-known and socially conscious woman who was actively involved in various social activities.
Baruah faced life’s challenges with courage after losing her husband at an early age. While raising and educating her two sons, she continued her own studies and completed her graduation by attending night college. Alongside her studies, she worked at the Junior Technical School and subsequently retired from service.
A woman of strong social commitment and religious devotion, Baruah was associated with various social welfare activities and was an active member of ‘Jonali Chora.’
She is survived by her two sons, Sumanta and Srimanta, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Her demise has cast a pall of gloom over Phukan Nagar and the surrounding area.
