DIBRUGARH: SPIC MACAY, Dibrugarh chapter will organize Sanskrit Yatra workshop demonstration in Dibrugarh from December 16 to 20 where renowned Kathak dancer Shipra Joshi and famous Manipuri dancer Dr Sinam Basu Singh will performed in various schools in Dibrugarh. The Sanskrit Yatra Workshop demonstration programme will be inaugurated on December 16 at Nirmali Gaon Girls’ High School.
Shipra Joshi is a talented Kathak dancer known for her captivating stage presence and attractive personality. She holds the highest degree of Kathak, a Post Diploma, which she obtained from Kathak Kendra in New Delhi as a scholar. Shipra is a recipient of the Ministry of Culture Scholarship, highlighting her dedication and skill in the field of dance. She is a senior disciple of Guru Prerana Shrimali Ji & has been groomed and nurtured by Guru Nandini Singh Ji too. Shipra has participated in numerous festivals, dance seminars, and conferences in India & abroad.
On the other hand, Dr Sinam Basu Singh is a top graded artist of National Doordarshan and the first male dancer to receive SNA Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Manipuri dance.
He is a dedicated and versatile exponent of Manipuri dance, hailing from the state of Manipur and a grandson of Maestro Meitei Pung player Guru late Sinam Bokul Singh and disciples of Guru N Tiken Singh, Guru (late) W Lokendrajit Singh, Guru Y Hemanta Kumar and Guru N Amusana Devi.
He is an empanelled artist of ICCR and Ministry of Culture. Basu completed his diploma from JNMDA Imphal and also completed graduation, masters from Visva-Bharati University and qualified NET exam conducted by UGC.
Basu’s performance has taken him across the length and breadth of the country and to the various prestigious festivals abroad like Australia, Japan, Russia, America, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, etc.
