Assam: SPIC MACAY to organize SRF Classical Series in Dibrugarh and Moran

DIBRUGARH: SPIC MACAY Dibrugarh Chapter is all set to conduct a National Classical Series, sponsored by SRF, in select educational institutions in Dibrugarh and Moran from March 24 to 28. The Classical Series will feature performances and workshop demonstrations by renowned Sitarist Anjan Saha, Santoor Maestro Pandit Satish Vyas, and Indian Carnatic Vocalist Abhishek Raghuram.

The Dibrugarh Chapter of SPIC MACAY aims to cover as many as 11 educational institutions, such as Shiksha Valley, Jalan Nagar Tea Garden School, Barbari Primary and ME School, Khanikar LP School, Sacred Heart School, Government Dental College, MDKG College, DHSK Law College, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Studies in Performing Arts, Dibrugarh University, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Moran.

Padma Shri Awardee and Santoor Maestro Pandit Satish Vyas, and Indian Carnatic Vocalist and Sahitya Natak Akademi Awardee Abhishek Raghuram will perform at Shiksha Valley School on March 25 and 26 respectively. Simultaneously, Anjan Saha, an A-graded Sitarist of Prasar Bharati and a teacher at Rabindra Bharati University, will be conducting workshop demonstrations from March 24 to 28 in Dibrugarh University and select schools and colleges of Dibrugarh and Moran.

SPIC MACAY i.e. the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, is a voluntary organization with over 300 chapters, that actively seeks to promote Indian cultural heritage through the display of Indian music, dance, crafts, and other aspects.

In 2024, the Dibrugarh Chapter successfully completed 97 programmes, which included Lecture Demonstrations and Workshop Demonstrations under Sanskriti Yatra, sponsored by the Governor of Assam.

Through the SRF Classical Series, the Dibrugarh Chapter of SPIC MACAY is optimistic that the performances and workshops shall provide an opportunity to the young students to interact and learn from renowned artists.

By reaching out to a number of educational institutions, the Dibrugarh Chapter of SPIC MACAY hopes to inspire students to cultivate an interest in Indian cultural art forms.
