SRIBHUMI: Seven individuals have been arrested for purportedly purchasing stolen goods in Sribhumi, formerly known as Karimganj, Assam.
According to reports, the arrested individuals, who are said to belong to prominent families, had bought items such as refrigerators, televisions, inverters, and washing machines. These items were reportedly stolen from the "Home Fashion" electronics store on Kalibari Road by two employees, identified as Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Sudipta Das.
The stolen goods were reportedly sold to buyers at significantly cheap prices. The police launched an investigation after receiving a report from the store owner, which led to the arrest of both employees and the seven buyers.
All suspects have been detained under judicial custody, and the Assam Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case.
Earlier this month, in the early hours, various people stroll around the city, pretending to be cab drivers, vegetable traders, and other ordinary citizens. But, unknown to the public, these individuals were actually part of a massive robbery network, comprising over 50 gang members, including drivers from Uber, Rapido, etc.
The gang's strategy was to conduct reconnaissance during the day under the guise of ride-sharing and trading before carrying out robberies at night.
Meanwhile, a Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) team from Latasil PS busted a gang during a robbery attempt in the Zoo Road area and exposed their operations through the interrogation of seven arrested members. The gang's base was revealed to be in the Dhubri, Barpeta, and Darrang districts.
