Sribhumi: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Sribhumi Police seized a significant haul of drugs early this morning, valued at ₹7 crore. The police recovered 50,000 YABA tablets in Puwamara and arrested one individual in connection with the illegal activity. Another 5,800 YABA tablets were seized in Longai, leading to the arrest of two more suspects.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news on social media, sending a strong message to drug peddlers. He assured that the police will continue to disrupt such illegal activities and spoil their plans. This seizure is part of the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat the drug trade and ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
Posting on social media, the Chief Minister said, "Dear Drug Peddlers, On behalf of Sribhumi Police, sorry to break your wild party plans as we got ₹7cr of your drugs seized early morning! 50,000 YABA tablets in Puwamara, 1 arrested. 5,800 YABA tablets in Longai, 2 arrested We will always keep spoiling your party plans!"
The Biswanath Police recently seized a large amount of smuggled liquor and suspected ganja in two separate operations. Acting on a tip-off, they recovered 168 bottles (38 liters) of illegally smuggled liquor from Arunachal Pradesh.
Additionally, 11.54 kg of suspected ganja was seized, and one person was arrested. Investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the Charaideo Police, in collaboration with the Excise Department, raided a secret liquor-making site, seizing 1,615 liters of homemade liquor and destroying production equipment. They also arrested a ganja peddler in Teokghat, recovering 5.268 kg of ganja, and further investigations are underway.
