DHUBRI: Through the use of bhaona on the platform of the naamghar, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev started a theatrical revolution in Assam as well as throughout India's regional languages.
Covering the journey from the time of this great saint to the modern mobile theatres, noted researcher and author Dr. Haricharan Das penned a critical discussion book titled, “Sristi Mulak Sahitya–Natak” (Creative Literature–Drama), which was released at the Bhairavganj Naamghar in Bilasipara of Dhubri District on Thursday. The book was formally released by Sankari culture artist and reciter Hemanta Kumar Das.
The book release meeting was held under the presidentship of Niranjan Sarma, president of the Bhairavganj Naamghar Committee. The event was graced by local devotees, especially women devotees, and well-wishers.
This book is written with a special focus on undergraduate students and research scholars. It discusses in detail the evolution of drama, folk theatre forms from different regions of India, various elements, types, forms, and presentation styles of drama, as well as the components and methodology of playwriting. The book has been published by Moni Manik Prakashan, located in Panbazar, Guwahati.
