BOKAKHAT: In the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination results, Deepamoni Loing, Bishwaranjan Moran, Maxima Taid, and Sagar Moran from Mahura mauza of Bokakhat samajila proved that poverty is not a barrier to education.
Deepamoni, a girl from a very poor family in Bartika village under Mahura mauza, passed the HSLC exam from Bonguwal High School in first division with letter marks in two subjects, despite her dire financial situation. Her father Tikheswar Loing is a daily-wage labourer, and her mother Aiti Loing is a housewife. After Deepamoni’s remarkable performance in the exam, her family is filled with both happiness and anxiety – happiness for her success, and worry about how to support her higher education, which now looms as a financial burden.
In the same village, Bishwaranjan Moran, son of singer Bishwajit Moran and Seema Moran, secured letter marks in three subjects and passed in first division from Bonguwal High School. His family’s financial condition is also unstable; his father earns a living performing songs here and there and cultivating a small piece of land. Now, worried about their son’s higher education, Bishwaranjan’s parents are deeply concerned.
Likewise, Maxima Taid, daughter of Hemchandra Taid and Asima Taid, passed the HSLC examination in first division with star marks, securing letter marks in six subjects, from Mahuramukh Higher Secondary School. Although her father is a teacher at a private school, their financial situation is not sound. Maxima had to walk nearly five kilometers every day to attend school, braving poverty and hardship to pursue her education. Her family, too, is anxious about how to support her higher studies.
On the other hand, Sagar Moran, son of driver Kumbal Moran and housewife Mamata Moran, passed in first division from Bartika Ofola High School. Despite the financial struggles, Sagar never gave up on his studies and continued with determination. Now, his poverty-stricken family is left wondering how they can arrange for his higher education, with sorrowful sighs marking their concern.
These students are shining examples that poverty cannot deter true determination and a hunger for education.
