Assam: Suspected morphine seized; children rescued from brick kilns in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Acting on a tip-off, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) along with the police personnel from Biswanath Chariali Police Station intercepted a motorcycle bearing number AS32A8946 at Tengabari Bypass on National Highway 15 after a hot chase last night and arrested one person named Jamil Haque (18 years), son of Abdul Kalam of Baghmari Borpam Village under Gingia Police Station in Biswanath district. Police also seized 576 grams of suspected morphine from his possession. The market value of the morphine is estimated at Rs 57.60 lakh.

Meanwhile, the District level Task Force, Biswanath inspected the brick kilns of Borgang and Behali areas headed by Bichitra Das, Assistant Commissioner, CDC, Behali today. The team rescued as many as six children from different brick kilns and registered an FIR accordingly. The rescued children were later produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Biswanath and restored temporarily at Gramin CCI, Biswanath.
