GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in Assam's Guwahati, three labourers working on the city's drainage system sustained severe injuries when an old wall collapsed on them. The incident occurred near Chabipul Chariali in the Athgaon locality of the city where workers had congregated for thorough digging and dredging works to execute the Public Works Department's citywide drainage project.

The injured laborers were immediately taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for emergency treatment. According to preliminary reports, one of the workers is in a critical condition, while the others are under treatment for their injuries.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of workers in mega-projects and critical infrastructure, such as drainage, especially at a time when the city is getting ready for the monsoons.
