DIBRUGARH: A major accident was reported in Assam's Dibrugarh on the morning of December 2, leaving three critically injured. The collision took place along the Lahowal-Jaipur road between the truck bearing registration number AS06AC7813 and the Bolero pickup having registration number AS06AC6317.

According to witnesses, the impact tore both cars apart and sent the Bolero pickup into a ditch on the side of the road. Given the severity of the crash, the truck's axle was totally detached from its chassis. They were taken to the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh shortly after the injuries occurred. Their condition is critical.

Locals raised concerns about careless driving on the stretch and blamed the collision on the speeding and recklessness of both drivers. However, the exact sequence of events that led to the disaster is still unknown. To know what caused the accident, authorities have initiated an inquiry.

The tragedy has rekindled discussions on road safety protocols and stronger enforcement of traffic laws in the area. Residents called on drivers to drive more carefully, especially on highways where accidents frequently happen.

The tragedy underscores the urgent need for more road safety awareness and better traffic law enforcement that will help prevent future deaths.
