Assam: Tinsukia DC Swapneel Paul takes stock of various schemes at Sadiya

DOOMDOOMA\Digboi: Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul accompanied  by MLA Balin Chetia went on a day-long visit to Sadiya on Wednesday to inspect the progress of various ongoing schemes there.

He has been to Amarpur also by boat and was accorded warm welcome by the villagers as it was a first ever visit of a DC to that place. Incidentally, Amarpur is a flood prone area and is approachable by river boat only in absence of any sort of road communication.

The District Commissioner informed the people about various flagship schemes implemented by the central and state governments and urged them to take advantage of them. In response to the demands of the people, he assured that the survey work of the  villages in the district would be started soon.

The District Commissioner was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Pabitra Kumar Das and Sadiya Co-District Commissioner  Manash Jyoti Nath, Inspector of Schools and District Primary Education Officer, Deputy Director in Charge of Food and Civil Supplies Department, Circle Officer of Sadiya Revenue Circle, Integrated Child Development Project Officer, Water Resources Department Executive. Apart from engineers, officials of Health, Panchayat and Rural Development, Agriculture and Power departments were also present.

Afterwards, District Commissioner Paul accompanied by MLA Balian Chetia visited Na-Dihing Higher Secondary School in Amarpur. He also inspected the progress of the newly-constructed school building of the said school.

Before that, he also visited the Primary Health Center in Char  areas of Amarpur by boat. He also presided over an awareness public meeting held at the Sadiya Co-District Commissioner’s office in the afternoon. The District Commissioner explained the Mission Basundhara 3.0 scheme in detail and urged the indigenous people who are deprived of land pattas to submit their applications online. He answered various questions of the people in this regard and tried to dispel doubts.

 The meeting was attended by MLA Balian Chetia who spoke about the land rights of the indigenous people and urged the people to co-operate fully with the government in this initiative. The MLA warmly congratulated the District Commissioner on behalf of the people of Sadiya constituency for taking such an unprecedented step to solve the long-standing problems of the people of Sadiya area. The meeting was also attended by Co- District Commissioner Manash Jyoti Nath, Additional Commissioner of Revenue Leena Pawe, Circle Officer of Sadiya Revenue Circle and others.
