Assam to Assess School Education Through ‘Gunotsav’ in January-February 2025

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will launch its annual statewide exercise to evaluate the quality of school education, "Gunotsav 2025,’ in January next year, covering over 44,000 schools in all 35 districts, an official statement said on Friday.

The upcoming evaluation will include new features, such as a mobile phone app for report submission and uniform evaluation, it said.

‘Gunotsav’ was first organized in the state in 2017, and five rounds of this exercise have been conducted already, covering all districts.

The exercise will be carried out in all 35 districts, covering 44,094 government/provincialized schools, tea garden model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya, Adarsha Vidyalayas, and tea garden-managed schools.

Gunotsav 2025 will be conducted in three phases, with the first phase covering 11 districts from January 6 to 9, the second phase in 14 districts from January 17 to 22, and the third phase in 10 districts from February 5 to 8.

The inclusion of the Gunotsav schedule in the academic calendar, the consideration of absentee students in school grading, the consideration of 10 percent weightage of marks from the annual examination, and the rotation of teachers within the cluster on the day of external evaluation are among the key features.
