DHEKIAJULI: The town of Dhekiajuli mourned the loss of Runu Tamuli, a respected community leader and former Ward Commissioner who passed away on February 13 at 9:40 PM. She was 70 years old.
Runu Tamuli was the wife of Bhupendra Kumar Tamuli, the Mouzadar of Borsola Mouza, and a prominent figure in local governance. She was elected as the Ward Commissioner of Dhekiajuli’s Ward No. 8 in the 2003 municipal elections securing a landslide victory. Her tenure, which began on January 27, 2004, was marked by several developmental initiatives that significantly improved local infrastructure and public welfare in the area.
A dedicated social worker, Runu Tamuli was deeply involved in cultural and religious activities. She was a senior member of the Dhekiajuli Sankar Mandir Naamghar Management Committee and actively supported various social organizations including the environmental conservation group Seuj Society, voluntary organization Srijanyam, and the Dhekiajuli Mahakuma Nagarik Mancha. Her contributions extended to the literary and cultural circles with the Dhekiajuli Likhak Samity and All Sonitpur District Satra Mahasabha among those mourning her loss.
Tamuli’s passing has cast a shadow over the masses of Dhekiajuli Co-District area with tributes pouring in from civic leaders, cultural organizations, and well-wishers. Her funeral was held today and attended by family members, local leaders, and admirers who gathered to pay their final respects.
She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and other relatives and admirers who remember her as a leader dedicated to public service and community development. Her legacy as a devoted public servant and community pillar will continue to inspire generations to come.
