SRIBHUMI: In a major crackdown, two Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended while attempting to enter illegally via the Sribhumi district of Assam. The duo, Arif Rahman and Md Shahid, was intercepted by security forces deployed along Assam's Sribhumi district which shares a border with neighbouring Bangladesh.

The announcement was made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, hailing strict border vigilance measures that facilitated the rapid detention and subsequent repatriation of the suspects. The Chief Minister used social media platform X to praise the Sribhumi police, declaring, "Border Vigilance at its Best! In a bold initiative by @sribhumipolice, two Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended while trying to cross the border illegally."

The apprehension underscores the ongoing challenges of border security in the region, as authorities remain vigilant against illegal crossings. The quick response by the law enforcement indicates a determination to uphold the integrity of the border and enforce compliance with immigration law.

After their detention, the two were immediately returned across the border, reaffirming the government's position on illegal immigration. This successful operation is a reminder of the need for strong border control and the ongoing efforts needed to deal with such problems effectively.

Previously, the Assam Police had busted an infiltration attempt in Sribhumi district, arresting three people who were identified as Bangladeshi nationals on March 25. The arrested trio were identified as Md. Hassan, Md. Alamin Mia and Md. Saiful Islam and were deported straight away to their homeland, showing the unwavering commitment of the state to thwart illegal border crossing.
