DHUBRI: A two-day Kisan Mela has commenced in the Dhubri District Agriculture Office, bringing together farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), and farm officials. Organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) jointly with the district agriculture department, the programme aims to enhance local farmers' knowledge and exposure to the market.

The mela was inaugurated by Additional Commissioner Shantana Bora, who pointed out the importance of such an event in filling the knowledge gaps that farmers in the district have. Bora pointed out that most of the local farmers do not have access to necessary farming training, making this event a vital platform for them to gain expertise from industry experts.

Farmers from other parts of the district are showcasing their produce at designated stalls, whereas SHG members are exhibiting and selling their products. The event also has training sessions organized by professionals of the agriculture department that involve best practices as well as sustainable methods of farming.

Other key officials present are Dhubri District Agriculture Officer Azim Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Salaur Rahman, and retired Agriculture Officer Nirmal Chandra Ghosh, among other departmental representatives.

The Kisan Mela is expected to create opportunities for learning and exchange among participants, consolidate the agricultural community in the area, and encourage sustainable methods of farming and support for local products.
