Mizoram Exports First Consignment of Anthurium Flowers to Singapore

The northeastern state exported 1008 Anthurium cut flowers that were sourced from the Zo Anthurium Growers Cooperative Society in Aizawl.

AIZAWL: In a major boost, Mizoram exported its first consignment of Anthurium flowers to Singapore on Wednesday, February 26, enhancing India’s floriculture export potential. The northeastern state exported 1008 Anthurium cut flowers that were sourced from the Zo Anthurium Growers Cooperative Society in Aizawl.

According to a senior official, APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) collaborated with Mizoram's Department of Horticulture to flag off the first consignment of Anthurium flowers from Aizawl to Singapore. The consignment was flagged off by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev along with Ramdinliani, the Special Secretary of the Department of Horticulture, Mizoram.

The flowers, packed in 50 corrugated boxes, were exported by IVC Agrovet Pvt. Ltd. from Aizawl by air via Kolkata and will be imported by Veg Pro Singapore Pte. Ltd. The export of floriculture from India to the world was USD 86.62 Million during FY 2023–2024.

This first consignment of Anthurium flowers from Mizoram to Singapore is one of the outcomes of the International Conclave and Buyer-Seller Meet organized by APEDA in collaboration with the Government of Mizoram on December 6, 2024, at Aizawl, Mizoram.

The event was attended by 9 international buyers from Singapore, UAE, Nepal, Jordan, Oman, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ethiopia, and 24 domestic exporters. The export of floriculture from India to various countries was USD 86.62 Million during the 2023-24 fiscal year.
