NAGAON: Two seperate road accidents took place on Thursday at the same time in Samaguri, Nagaon, Assam, in which several were injured. In the first accident, which occurred in the Downtown locality on the national highway, a scooter trying to cross over a divider was hit by an approaching four-wheeler.
The impact made the four-wheeler lose control and skid off the road. The rider of the scooter, identified as Pritam Borsaikia, sustained critical injuries and was first taken to a primary health center. Since his injuries were critical in nature, he was later referred to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) for specialized treatment.
There was another accident in the Teliagaon locality, also on the national highway. A Bolero car hit a divider, overturning in the middle of the road. Some of the passengers in the Bolero were injured, and local people promptly came forward to take them to NMCH for urgent medical care.
The authorities are probing the causes of the two accidents and, in the initial reports, loss of control of the vehicle is suspected to have caused both accidents. The police have vowed to conduct a thorough investigation and are appealing to drivers to drive with caution, especially when driving along dividers and areas with high traffic. The accidents serve to remind drivers to drive with caution on the road and be vigilant while driving.
