Assam: Two Retail Stores Looted In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a shocking robbery incident in Guwahati, two retail shops were allegedly looted by miscreants who entered the stores by cutting tin ceilings.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday 26 April at the Bishnu Rabha Path located in Ghoramora close to the Beltola area in Guwahati city.

According to reports, on late Tuesday night, the thieves entered both the grocery and mobile store in the same area after the shop owners left for their homes.

The thieves during late-night hours entered the shops from above by cutting through the ceilings made of tin as per reports.

Notably, the whole incident was captured on the CCTV camera placed in the shops for security.

The incident cause a huge loss to the owners of the shops as the miscreants have stolen mobile phones worth lakhs including worthy grocery items from the grocery shop.

The two shops looted are namely Shri Shyam Gadgets and DD Mart both located close to each other at Bishnu Rabha Path.

The owner of DD Mart said that chocolate containers, cigarette packs, perfume bottles and other grocery items worth around Rupees 80,000 were stolen.

Meanwhile, the owner of Shri Shyam Gadgets reported that mobiles phones and a huge amount of cash were also stolen from the shop.

Police upon reaching the crime scene started an investigation to find out the culprits behind the robbery and informed that the thieves left behind some of the equipment and substances that they used to cut the ceiling of the shops.

It may be mentioned that such robbery incidents are reported on a daily basis from the Guwahati metropolis which causes massive loss to owners.
