DEMOW: The construction of the four-lane highway on NH-37 Road in Demow of Sivasagar district is going on in full swing. During sunny weather, due to the dust, the pedestrians and the people residing near the construction areas in Demow face serious problems, and on the other hand, during rainy weather, the pedestrians face problems while walking due to mud and water in Demow.
A half-done flyover is there at Demow Chariali and the construction company has dug the road due to which it has become difficult for big vehicles to travel through that road. Moreover, there are no proper places to park vehicles in Demow Chariali. The construction company has constructed poor-quality drains in various places in Demow and the covers of the drains are broken. In April, a dumper loaded with stones, while travelling, fell into a drain in Demow Chariali. The uncovered drains cause headaches for the pedestrians too and if measures are not taken, a big accident may take place. The locals appealed to the concerned authority to construct and cover the drains in the Demow area at the earliest.
