TANGLA: In a bizarre incident a series of arson attacks have left the inhabitants of 3 No. Rongapani village under Mazbat Revenue Circle in Udalguri district, in a state of fear and distress. According to reports, unidentified miscreants have been repeatedly setting fire to haystacks meant for livestock, with incidents occurring daily since March 3. Despite villagers maintaining night vigils, the attacks have continued raising concerns over security in the area. The latest and most alarming incident occurred on the night of March 14, when the miscreants shifted their target from haystacks to homes. At around 8pm and again at 10pm, unidentified individuals set fire to the residence of Ratna Gaur in 3 No. Rongapani village before fleeing the scene. While local residents managed to extinguish the flames, valuable property worth several lakhs was completely destroyed. The affected villagers have repeatedly reported the incidents to Mazbat Police Station, urging immediate action. Although the police have visited the site, no arrests have been made so far, leaving residents frustrated and fearful. Local villagers allege that despite multiple complaints, the police have failed to take the matter seriously. The continued attacks, now targeting homes, have intensified concerns, with residents expressing their distress over the growing sense of insecurity. The situation remains tense as villagers demand swift police action to identify and apprehend those responsible. However, with no arrests made yet, the residents of Rongapani remain on high alert, fearing further attacks in the coming days.
