Assam: Union Minister Shivraj Chouhan visits Nagaon

NAGAON: Union Minister of Panchayati Raj and Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited Samaguri in Nagaon district on Sunday. During his visit, he interacted with over 50 women entrepreneurs of Lakhpati and Mahalakhpati Baideo, at the “Kunhi Tea Bar” in Bheleoguri area. Chouhan discussed how women in the NRLM (National Rural Livelihood Mission) groups have achieved self-reliance and the benefits they’ve received from the state government. The Minister reviewed products manufactured by women in the NRLM groups, expressing satisfaction with their work. Chouhan thanked Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for implementing developmental schemes for NRLM and self-help groups.

He emphasized the need to empower Lakhpati Baideo to become Mahalakhpati Baideo and encouraged all women to join self-help groups.

The National Rural Livelihood Mission aims to promote financial independence and entrepreneurship among women in rural areas. Under this mission, self-help groups are formed to provide a platform for women to launch micro-businesses and improve their livelihoods. The district administration played a significant role in organizing the event. Narendra Kumar Shah, District Commissioner, Nagaon, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad, Manoj Kumar Chikariya as well as other officials from district administration and other allied sector or departments attended the event.
