NUMALIGARH: A rogue wild elephant has been terrorizing residents of Marangi, Golaghat district, causing widespread destruction and panic. The elephant, which has been roaming the area for several days, has damaged multiple houses and crops, leaving locals in a state of fear.

According to reports, the elephant entered the residential area of Patkatiya Village, near National Highway 39, and caused chaos throughout the night. It also attacked the house of Champak Dutta, destroying his rice storage and causing significant financial loss. Forest Department officials from the Bakial Beat Office eventually managed to chase the elephant away, bringing relief to the residents. However, the incident has highlighted the growing concern of human-wildlife conflict in the region.

This is not the first such incident in the area. Just a few days ago, a woman was injured in a wild elephant attack in the same region and was admitted to Golaghat Civil Hospital. Locals are now demanding immediate action from the authorities to prevent further incidents.
