DHUBRI: A 22-year-old woman from Gossaigaon has lodged a serious allegation of rape against her lover. The woman, who had come to visit her sister in Dophorpur, was allegedly taken into the dense forest area of Barundanga Kalapani under Golakganj police jurisdiction and raped multiple times against her will by the accused, identified as Safiqul Islam.

According to the complaint filed at the Paglahat Police Outpost, Safiqul Islam, along with his brother-in-law Ashraful Alam, took the woman from her sister’s residence under the pretext of introducing her to his parents for marriage. However, instead of taking her to his home, the duo led her into the nearby forest area, where Safiqul allegedly raped her three times, despite her resistance.

The incident took a turn when locals spotted the two men fleeing with the woman on a bike. Upon being chased, the accused abandoned the survivor and fled the scene. Later, local villagers, along with a village protection force member named Faijar Ali, took the survivor to Safiqul Islam’s house. However, instead of offering support, the accused's family allegedly assaulted the woman and drove her away.

Police from the Paglahat Outpost later rescued the woman and facilitated her medical examination. Following the incident, the survivor filed an FIR seeking justice, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation. Meanwhile, both accused Safiqul Islam and Ashraful Alam remain absconding as police continue their search.
