
VARANASI: In a shocking case in Varanasi, a 19-year-old girl has claimed to have been gang-raped by 23 men for seven days, between March 29 and April 4, 2025. The victim, a resident of Pandeypur Lalpur, went missing from her home on March 29 after she was taken to a hookah bar in Sigra by her boyfriend, where her ordeal started.
The young woman came back home on April 4 and later narrated the traumatic experience to her family, leading her mother to lodge a police complaint. The victim was allegedly kidnapped, drugged, and raped several times at different hotels and places across the city during the week she was missing. She tried to escape but could not free herself from her abductors.
She was reported missing by her family on April 4, the same day she was discovered. At first, no official complaint was made, but on April 6, the mother of the victim registered an FIR on the basis of her testimony. The probe has resulted in 23 people being charged, including named accused persons like Raj Vishwakarma, Samir, Ayush, and more, along with 11 unknown individuals.
As part of the ongoing probe, Varanasi police have arrested six suspects and are scrutinizing CCTV footage to ascertain other individuals involved in the case.
