Assam: Woman along with her two daughters goes missing in Sonitpur

Sonitpur: A woman along with her two daughters has been reported missing from Sonitpur since January 5, 2021.

The missing woman has been identified as Dipti Chhetri (28-year-old) wife of Ganesh Chhetri and her daughters - Rashmita Chetri (8), and Rashmi (7) are the residence of Balijuri village in Sonitpur district of Assam.

Dipti along with her two daughters went to her father's home at Bahbari village under Behali police station on December 27, 2020.

The 28-year-old woman and her two little daughters were on their way back to home on January 5, when they had gone missing.

Speaking to the media, a spokesperson from her native place said that Dipti with her two daughters went to her father's home on December 27 last year. Dipti was also in touch with her neighbours from her father's place. She talked with her neighbours over phone calls when she was in her father's home.

"As she was in touch with us we thought she must be in there only. We came to know about the incident when Dipti's sister called us around 8 pm on January 5 and asked whether she reached home or not, that left us shocked because she was had not reached home," said the spokesperson.

According to the locals, Dipti's sister said that she left from Behali on January 5 at around 1.30 pm.

"As soon as we got to know that Dipti did not reach home we connected to her relatives and asked about her whereabouts but we could not find any clue so far," locals said.

A missing person case has been lodged with the Itakhola police station regarding the matter on January 7 by Jeet Bahadur Chhetri, a senior citizen of the village.
