PATHSALA: In a tragic incident, a woman lost her life in a road accident in Lower Assam’s Baksa District. The incident occurred on the Indo-Bhutan Road near Sannyasi Shivadham Temple in the district and left the deceased’s husband injured after their bike collided with a stray cow.

Sources said that the accident occurred while they were returning home after performing puja for their newly-purchased two-wheeler Pulsar bike, seeking blessings for safety and prosperity.

As per report, the deceased, identified as 45-year-old Minoti Kalita, is a resident of Pathsala in Bajali District. The accident took place when a stray cow suddenly appeared in their path, causing the husband, who was riding the bike, to lose control. The tragic incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by stray animals on roads.

Residents have raised concerns over the growing number of stray cattle on roads, which frequently lead to accidents in the region. They have urged the authorities to take immediate action to prevent such mishaps and ensure the safety of commuters.

Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been sent to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta for postmortem.
