PRAYAGRAJ: A woman from Biswanath Chariali identified as Manju Devi Agarwal has gone missing since January 29 during the Maha Kumbh festival in Prayagraj. She had disappeared after a stampede took the life of a businessman from Assam's Hailakandi district.
Manju, who had come to Prayagraj with her family on January 27, was one of the devotees who visited the banks of the Ganga River for a holy bath yesterday afternoon. Her granddaughter went missing during this time, and the family began searching for her. After finding the granddaughter, the family asked Manju to sit at a particular place near the riverbank and wait while they continued their search.
But, on returning back, the family members found Manju to be missing from the very place where she was left by them. "When my family returned after tracing my daughter, they found that my mother was missing," her youngest son staying in Biswanath Chariali said.
The local administration has been informed and is taking part in the search. Manju's name is being broadcast through loudspeakers in the locality, but Manju is missing. The family is worried since Manju suffers from diabetes and requires injections regularly.
The family has also disseminated two contact numbers: +91-7637010291 and +91-9864062000; urging any informant of Manju's location to contact.
