Assam: Woman Gang-Raped In Dhubri; FIR Lodged Against Eight Accused

DHUBRI: A shocking gang rape incident in the Alamganj locality of Gauripur under Assam's Dhubri district has left a young woman critically injured and struggling for life, sparking massive outrage. The horrific crime reportedly took place after the victim was lured over the phone and subjected to brutal sexual assault.

According to the victim's father, the woman had gone to her brother's residence in Baghmara, Gauripur, to attend a family reunion. She received a call from a man named Rezaul Haque, who allegedly convinced her to meet him. Unaware of the trap, the victim agreed, only to fall prey to a planned assault arranged by Rezaul and his accomplices.

The accused allegedly raped the woman on the road and attacked her with sharp weapons, leaving her severely injured. Locals of Alamganj Part-I found her lying unconscious and bleeding, and informed her family. She was taken to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Based on the family's complaint, police have registered an FIR at Gauripur police station against Rezaul Haque, Azizur Haque, Ashikur Rahman, Ayyub Ali, Serajul Haque, Osman Ali, Shohidur Rahman and Ali Hussain.

The incident has triggered massive anger among locals, who are demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators. Police have assured a thorough investigation and promised that legal action will be taken against all those involved.
