BOKAKHAT: Thunu Gogoi, also known as Munu (52 years), a woman from Kasupathar village under Khumtai Police Outpost in Golaghat district, went missing on May 2 after leaving home to cast her vote. Her family, growing increasingly concerned, lodged a written complaint at the Khumtai Police Outpost regarding her disappearance.

Later, it was found that Thunu Gogoi died on Saturday after being hit by a train at Botulikhua in Khumtai. The deceased was identified by her family. The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the local area.

Thunu Gogoi leaves behind an ailing husband and a son. How she ended up in Botulikhua, around 5 kilometers from the Kasupathar Higher Secondary School polling station where she reportedly cast her vote, remains a mystery, one that police investigation is expected to clarify. Her mortal remains have been sent by railway and police authorities to Golaghat for post-mortem examination.
