Assam Woman Raped By ‘Friend’ In Gurugram, Accused Arrested

GUWAHATI: As per the police information, a lady from Assam, 34, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a "friend" in a car near Hero Honda Chowk on March 30. 

The woman, an employee of a private company, claimed that she had been speaking on the phone with Sandeep, the accused, over the course of the previous few days. 

Sandeep, 40, offered to pick her up from Hero Honda Chowk on Monday as she was leaving her Sector 37 office, according to the police. 

According to the woman's complaint to police, "I sat in his car, and after talking for a while, he raped me in the car and also threatened to murder me." Sandeep, a resident of Jhajjar, was booked on Wednesday at Sector 37 Police Station under section 376 rape and 506 for criminal intimidation as a result of her allegation, and he was taken into custody on Thursday. 

"The accused admitted to the offence. He was presented in court and taken into protective custody," SHO of Sector 37 Police Station Inspector Sunita said. 

A 20-year-old Manipur lady had earlier reported her coworker to the police for raping her twice in a hotel in the city's Civil Line neighbourhood. The suspect has been identified as Karan, a post-team leader who works for a private company in Sector 18, which the victim joined in March 2022. 

In her complaint, the victim claimed that the defendant had become friends with her when they both worked for the same business. The victim was allegedly called to a hotel in Civil Line on June 22 by Karan, who then raped her there. According to the lawsuit, he repeated the wrongdoing a few days later when he accompanied her to the same hotel once more. 

The victim went to the police, and on March 17 at the Civil Line police station, an FIR was filed against Karan under Section 376 (2) N of the Indian Criminal Code (committing rape repeatedly on the same lady).
