GOLAGHAT: Development Commissioner Handicrafts North Eastern Region, Guwahati, organized a daylong workshop on schemes of DC Handicrafts, GI Act, e-commerce platform, GST & Gem portal on August 5 at Hotel Celebration Rangajan of Golaghat district. More than 50 artisans from across the district participated in the workshop.

The programme started with lamp lighting and felicitation of the guests. A welcome speech was given by Regional Director (NER) NERO HK Baro, who addressed the artisans and spoke on their welfare aspects. Assistant Manager NABARD Shubham Kr Jha spoke on the importance of Geographical Indication and GI on handicrafts. He asked the artisans to show their calibre by making various handmade crafts and try for GI recognition.

Assistant Professor of Golaghat Commerce College Dibyendu Palit spoke on various e-commerce platforms, digital marketing & Gem portal.

Accountancy Teacher, Reliance Sr Secondary School Amit Nagori delivered a lecture on GST on handicraft, process of registration, calculation, and advantages & disadvantages. Handicraft Promotion Officer Dushyant Kumar spoke on various schemes of DC Handicrafts and how to avail them.

LDC Rinka Chetri asked artisans to participate in exhibitions at national & international levels. She also asked every artisan to see updates on upcoming programmes by visiting www.indian.handicrafts.gov.in.

Mukesh Kumar and Mrinali Saikia Nath also addressed the gathering while Pankaj Sharma, Pankaj Baruah, and Ankur Agarwal were present in the seminar. The resource persons delivered their speech through PowerPoint presentations, while the vote of thanks was given by Dushyant Kumar.
