DIBRUGARH: With the advancement of science and technology, new additions have been made to the media. There are many challenges in this journey from newspapers to digital media. Recently, the media has become increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence. But it is certain that artificial intelligence-based media cannot capture that emotional character. Former president of the All Assam Journalists’ Association and Senior Journalist Iqbal Ahmed said on Saturday on World Press Freedom Day.
In his speech, he said that while artificial intelligence has advantages in reducing the number of media personnel, it also has some limitations. In addition, artificial intelligence can often mislead.
The event was organized by the UN Federation of India, Dibrugarh District Journalists Association, Greater Dibrugarh Press Club and BCA Department of DHSK College (Autonomous). Secretary of the UN Federation India Dr Aswini Sarma also explained the vision of the United Nations.
The event was moderated by Manjit Bora, general secretary, Dibrugarh District Journalists Association, and president, Greater Dibrugarh Press Club.
The meeting was attended by prominent writer and principal of DHSK College (Autonomous) Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia. He said that the killing of journalists in the world is a serious threat to the entire democracy.
Despite these challenges, the media must resolve to move forward with determination today. President of the Dibrugarh District Journalist Association, Bipin Sarmah, delivered the inaugural speech in the programme.
General Secretary Greater Dibrugarh Press Club, Ratul Buragohain, delivered the objectives of the programme.
The event also felicitated young journalists Jadav Gogoi, Jyotish Patir, Paresh Aind and Jasim Ahmed. The programme began with a lantern lighting ceremony by the founder president of the Greater Dibrugarh Press Club, Rajib Borgohain.
