NUMALIGARH: An environmental awareness programme was organized at Bordihingia Lower Primary School to celebrate World Sparrow Day yesterday. The event was attended by retired principal of Kamargaon Girls’ High School Jatin Kakati who spoke about the significance of the day and the role of society in conservation.

Maheswar Robidas, a speaker at the event, highlighted the decline of sparrows in rural areas due to the disappearance of traditional bamboo houses and the reduction of food sources. He emphasized the need for conservation efforts to protect the species.

The programme was also attended by retired teacher Mukheswar Saikia, former gaon panchayat president Lukeswar Hazarika, and Aaranyak Project Officer Arif Hussain. The event was moderated by Mahen Doley, Principal of Bordihingia Lower Primary School.
