GUWAHATI: A minister representing the Barak Valley is likely to be included in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle in Assam. This development was alluded to by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a recent media appearance.
Two new ministers may be appointed as part of the reshuffle, according to Sarma, but the final decision would depend on a significant meeting that is planned for Delhi. He said, “We are considering adding a minister from the Barak Valley. However, if the need arises for two or three more ministers, we will explore that option as well.”
A final decision will be made following thorough discussions in the nation's capital, the Chief Minister stressed, adding that consultations are presently in progress.
A region known for its rich linguistic and cultural variety, the Barak Valley has long pushed for more representation in the state legislature. According to Sarma's remark, the administration is dedicated to fulfilling these goals.
It is anticipated that further information may surface after the Delhi summit.
The BJP-led NDA is currently enjoying the success of its most recent by-election wins as the announcement is made. Chief Minister Sarma expressed his happiness with the party's sweeping victory, particularly in districts with a majority of minorities, which reflects the BJP's increasing popularity in areas that have hitherto been seen as other parties' strongholds.
