
DARRANG: Vavani Vee Sarmah, a native of Sipajhar in Assam's Darrang district, made headlines for his role in SpaceX's recent mission to safely bring astronaut Sunita Williams back to Earth. A senior software engineer with SpaceX, Sarmah was instrumental in synchronizing the technical demands of the mission in order to ensure a successful and safe landing.
Sarmah's academic life started at the Assam Engineering Institute and later at Dibrugarh University. In 2005, he moved to the United States to study at the University of Pennsylvania, where he set the ground for his remarkable career in technology and aerospace.
With more than 15 years of experience, Sarmah has served in key positions in a number of top organizations in the United States. He started his career as a technical program manager at Microsoft Corporation in 2006 and has since served in a number of key positions prior to joining SpaceX in January this year.
His recent success not only indicates his hard work and skill but also acts as a source of inspiration for budding engineers and professionals of Assam. Sarmah's role in the SpaceX mission has made his family, friends, and the whole state proud, demonstrating the capabilities of Assam's professionals in the international aerospace industry.
