MANGALDAI: The Lead Bank Office at Mangaldai, with an aim to create awareness on financial inclusion, organized a day-long Special Financial Inclusion Campaign and Credit Outreach Programme at the District Library auditorium on Wednesday.

This programme was organized with assistance from NABARD and RSETI, Mangaldai in coordination with all banks of the Darrang district. Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Pranab Kumar Sarma, while taking part in the campaign as the chief guest, inaugurated the campaign by lighting an earthen light in the traditional way.

In his inaugural speech, Deputy Commissioner Sarma appealed to all sections of the society, particularly those not easily reachable to banks, to avail the service of the banks and the financial institutions and also laid stress on the need for maintaining a healthy financial transaction to avail further financial services from the banks or the financial institutions. He also asked the bank officials to extend all help and proper guidance to the common people so that they could avail the hussle-free services from the banks or financial institutions.

District Development Officer of NABARD Abhisheke Barua, Zonal Manager of UCO Bank, Jorhat Zone Alok Kumar and Lead District Manager Kishori Ram also addressed the function. In the function, a total of 97 persons, including Self-Help Groups, were given loan amounting to Rs 3.76 crore.
