Awareness meet against illicit liquor by village defence party of Samukjan and others

MERAPANI: An awareness meet against illicit liquor was held recently at Samukjan village under Merapani police station. The awareness meet was organized under the aegis of the village defence party of Samukjan and neighbouring villages. Lohit Das, the village headman, presided over the meeting. Diganta Bora called upon the gathering to warn the lali gur traders to stop their business. Criticizing the Gologhat district excise department, he demanded arrest of lali gur traders. In the meeting, a new committee of Madmuktabahini, Axom (Samukjan branch) was formed with Moon Das as president and Dipti Das and Diganta Bora as joint secretaries.
