DHUBRI: An exhibition-cum-awareness programme on 'Space Science and Technology' for nation-building was held on Tuesday at BN College, Dhubri.

The programme was organized by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Government of India, Umiam, Meghalaya and hosted by the Department of Physics, BN College, Dhubri.

The programme was organized on the occasion of celebrating the 75th years of India's Independence as well as commemorating the birth centenary of the great space scientist Vikram Sarabhai (1919-1971). The primary objective of the programme was to popularize space research among the students and make them aware about India's contributions in space research in the uplift of the global community. The programme began with an inaugural speech delivered by Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty, Principal, BN College, Dhubri. Students from BN College, Dhubri and nearby institutions participated in the exhibition. Various models related to Mission Chandrayaan were displayed and demonstrated to the students inside the mobile exhibition vehicle by the officials of NESAC. In this connection, a poster presentation on space research facilities available in India was also organized.
