LAKHIMPUR: As per initiative taken by Lakhimpur district administration, the academic institutions of the district conducted extensive awareness programmes on G-20 and Y-20 summits to be held in New Delhi in the current year. These G-20 and Y-20 summits pre-events include seminars, quiz competitions, symposia yoga session etc.

In this connection, Panigaon OPD College organized a seminar on one of the major thrusts of the summit by focusing on youth and entrepreneurship. The seminar was titled as 'Shifting from Job Seekers to Job Creators: Transmogrifying Necessity Entrepreneurs and Rectifying Opportunity Entrepreneur'. Abhinab Nath, Assistant Professor, Department of History delivered the introductory speech of the seminar explaining the role, aim and importance of G-20 and on the relevance of this summit to be held in India for the youth. The seminar paper was presented by Jyotish Engti, Assistant professor of Economics along with students Biraj Borah and Ujjal Borah. Assistant Professor Gyanashree Kotoky, Department of Political Science delivered the vote of thanks. The seminar was attended by the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the college.

On the other hand, North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) in association with Lakhimpur Girls' College and Commerce College, organized a yoga session, quiz competition, debate competition, and a seminar. The yoga session, which was held under the management of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) vice-principal Ranjan Borah and Professor Dr Bornali Borah, was inaugurated by Inspector of School Hem Kanta Saikia.

It was conducted by dedicated yoga instructors of Vivekanand Kendra, North Lakhimpur. The quiz competition was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah.
