Badarpur Press Club vows to help in cremation and burial

SILCHAR: Badarpur Press Club, a railway township with cluster of villages in Karimganj district, has vowed to stand by both the Hindu and Muslim families who face difficulties in performing the last rites of their near and dear ones lost in COVID pandemic. After IftarMehfil at the Press Club on Thursday, the problem as reported in the media about lack of proper arrangement for disposal of the dead bodies was discussed with the Circle Officer of the area who assured of his best possible help from the administration. Before the IftarMehfil, held strictly in accordance with COVID protocol, Hafiz Saidul Islam conducted prayer, invoking the Almighty for the welfare of mankind.

During the first wave of COVID, Badarpur Press Club came forward to hold awareness camps on adopting preventive measures and adherence to mandated COVID guidelines, distribute relief materials among the families of corona victims which included masks and sanitizers. This time, the members would extend help in the cremation as well as burial of dead bodies. Two days ago, dead body of a corona victim of Karimganj breathing his last at SMCH was not allowed to be consigned to flames at Silchar crematorium.

The press club of the railway township recalled the death of 55 mediapersons by corona and observed one minute silence to pray to the Almighty for peace of their souls. Sahirul Islam Bakul, President of press club presided over the IftarMehfil attended by JishuSuklabaidya, vice-president, Salim Ahmed, treasurer, members and invited guests.
