BARPETA: The rate of COVID positive cases in Barpeta district is 7 per cent. As per the notification (new SOP) of the State Government, Barpeta district administration also in an order notified that due to critical situation of COVID cases in the district, all government and non-government educational institutions would remain closed, including hostels and coaching centres from May 6 onwards until further order. But online mode of education should be opened for the students. Again for COVID patients, 11 more COVID care centres with bed capacity of about 500 will be made ready in different places of the entire district, stated the DIPRO of Barpeta, Bikash Sarma. He added that though Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) had 113 beds for COVID patients, another 32 beds were also ready.

Barpeta Civil Hospital, Kalgachiya has 100 beds for COVID patients. At FAAMCH, Barpeta, there are 50 COVID patients under treatment and at Barpeta Civil Hospital, Kalgachiya there are 43 COVID patients under treatment. Besides, 1,042 asymptomatic COVID positive patients are under home quarantine. Barpeta district administration has already made 497 beds ready for COVID patients in different COVID care centres of the district.
