GORESWAR: A beneficiary meet and socio-economic awareness programme was held at Bengnahati Football Field, on Sunday here at Goreswar in Tamulpur district. Addressing the huge gathering, the Chief of BTR and President of the UPPL, Pramod Boro, said that once upon a time, there was no peace in the area and they had a big challenge to bring peace in BTR. He said, “We lost many years in the name of the Boro-Oboro struggle. Now, we must go forward together for the development of BTR. Proper implementation of government schemes is a must for all-round development. The BTC Government has been providing various schemes including PMAY, Oronodoi, hand looms, goatery, piggery, etc. These schemes must be implemented properly so that the poor beneficiary be benefitted.” He also said that one day, Goreswar would be a civil subdivision as per people’s demand.
Boro further said, “I have a deep relationship with Goreswar. When I was an ABSU leader, I saw that for holding meetings, be they of student organizations or political parties, schools were requisitioned and no community halls were constructed even after 75 years of independence. Therefore, our government has constructed many community halls in 40 constituencies of BTC. Schemes have already been prepared to distribute house materials for holding meetings in every Self-Help Group in the BTR.”
The Chief of BTR, Pramod Boro, said that even after 70 years of independence, many indigenous tribal people had no land. He said that land pattas were recently distributed to many families. He also said that the Government of BTR had launched Mission Bwiswmuthi, through which land-related services were being provided to the people of the region and land pattas distributed to landless people. The BTR government has been working in the field of Agriculture, Education, Healthcare, Road Communication for all-round development in the BTR, he added.
The BTR chief assured that a cultural bhawan would be constructed with funds of around Rs 3 crore at Goreswar for cultural enrichment of all communities.
The meeting was also addressed by MP of Rajya Sabha, Rwngwra Narzary, former minister of the state, Chandan Brahma, Pabitra Kumar Boro, and others. Madhab Chetry, MCLA-cum-Central General Secretary of UPPL political party, Jolen Daimary, MLA of Tamulpur Legislative Assembly Constituency, Jintu Dutta, BDO of Goreswar Development Office, also attended the mass gathering along with others.
