Bhupendra Sangeet and solo dance competition concludes in Tezpur
Rangapith, a leading socio-cultural organisation in Tezpur, organised a two-day state-level Bhupendra Sangeet and solo dance prize-money competition

TEZPUR: Rangapith, a leading socio-cultural organisation in Tezpur, organised a two-day state-level Bhupendra Sangeet and solo dance prize-money competition that concluded at the historic Ban Theatre as a tribute to the genius of music maestro, Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The state-level competition was divided in two categories, Group A for students from class III to VII and Group B for students from class VIII and above and all others. Solo dance based on Bhupendra Sangeet competition was also divided in two categories, Group A for students from class I to VII and Group B for students from class VIII and above. About 85 students participated in this competition from various parts of Assam.
The programme started with hoisting of flag by Dilip Kumar Kakati, president of Rangapith, lighting of the earthen lamp and Mangalacharan by Parag Phukan, Advisor of Rangapith and it was followed by floral tributes to the Sudhakantha by Rabindra Kumar Bora, General Secretary of Rangapith and Nripen Hazarika, brother of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Mahendra Keot, Kamada Prasad Choudhury and other dignitaries. The competition was formally inaugurated by noted singer and musician, Jyotirmoy Devnath.
The song competition was judged by noted singer Ranjan Dutta, Gauri sankar Bora and Nayanjyoti Saikia and the dance competition was judged by Samir Choudhury, Prerana Baishya and Bumoni Sarma.
During the program, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's brother, Nripen Hazarika, stated that Dr. Hazarika touched the hearts of all who loved music and humanity.. Dr Hazarika is not just for the Assamese but for the whole nation and the entire globe, he further said.
Ten winners from each category were announced. In the upper category of Bhupendra Sangeet, the first, second and third prizes were bagged by Alakananda Bhuyan, Animesh Saikia and Murshana Shibam respectively, while in the lower category first, second and third prize were bagged by Airin Gogoi, Kristykanya Saikia and Bipasha Hazarika respectively. In the upper category of solo dance, the first, second and third prizes were bagged by Nabashree Kalita, Saurabh jyoti Borah and Murshana Shibam and Prajalika Kashyap respectively, while in the lower category first, second and third prize were bagged by Kamashree Deka, Darshana Das and Ansumi Borah respectively.
