DEMOW: The NH-37 road has turned into a killer highway. Due to the big potholes in front of Demow Sitala Mandir, the people of Demow are facing serious problems.

Due to potholes, many precious lives have been lost in tragic mishaps. After a heavy shower, the potholes are filled up by rainwater and the big vehicles plying on the NH-37 road splash water on pedestrians. Moreover, people often fall in these potholes when they are filled with rainwater.

Local people of Demow alleged that though the GDCL had repaired the potholes of NH-37 road in Demow, the repair work was poor. “The NH-37 road plays a major role in economic development of the entire north-eastern region,” said Rabindra Ghosh, secretary of All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (AABYSF), Sivasagar District Committee. He said that the State Government should give importance to repair the NH-37 road.

The people of Demow have urged the local MLA and State PWD Minister and authorities of GDCL to repair the big potholes in front of Demow Sitala Mandir at the earliest.
